Eco-evolutionary dynamics of structured populations.

About the Event
All natural populations are structured to some extent. A major challenge in theoretical evolutionary ecology is to take into account this structure when modelling the feedback between ecological and evolutionary dynamics. In this talk, I will discuss how the concept of reproductive value can be used and extended to shed light on the interplay between demography and selection for relatively general ecological scenarios. As a case study, I will then apply this framework to analyze selection in periodically varying environments, using a model for the evolution of pathogen life-history traits in class-structured host populations.
